The first half of 2017 has been a super busy one. From styling hair for beautiful weddings, to cuts, color, and balayage fun at Copacetic! Here are just a few quick photos of some of the gorgeous hair that I have had the pleasure of styling so far in 2017!

You know how much I love an updo! I have also had fun finding fun and new ways to style hair half up and all the way down too!

Styling hair at Copacetic has been super fun too! Here are a couple pics of hair I have cut and colored there too!

Looking forward to seeing what happens next in 2017! Also looking ahead an excepting booking for 2018!

Carol’s Big Day!

Back in early November I got to spend the day with a very sweet bride before she walked down the aisle on her wedding day. Carol and I had been talking about her hair and makeup since the middle of May and now the day had finally come.

Normally when I meet with brides for a trial run of their hair they sometimes have a picture or two of a style that they like. When we got together back on July she had the exact style picked out and a photo of every possible angle that you could imagine of this hair style. She was a very thorough bride-to-be!

So on the morning of her big day, Carol and I got to work on curling her long thick hair. Most of the hair would remain falling down her back but the rest would be pulled up from the side and front, leaving only her bangs to accent her face.

She also chose to wear a sparkling barrette in her hair to finish the style.

Carol was a great bride to work with, very sweet and knew exactly what she wanted. I’m very lucky to have gotten to be a part of her special day. Thanks again for choosing me to be there with you!

Carol: Trial

This weekend I got to meet up with bride-to-be Carol for a trial run of her hair and makeup. Even though her wedding is not until the beginning of November, she contacted me back around the first of May. Since the wedding is taking place a few hours from her home, and each of her bridal party members are traveling great distances, Carol was looking for an on-location stylist to keep things simple for her traveling friends.

One of the things I have loved about getting to know Carol and her bridal party so far is that along with our email correspondence, she invited me to follow her on Pinterest. With this I have been able to see all of the ideas that she has liked when it come to not only hair and makeup but bridesmaid dresses and styles that her bridesmaids love too! So when she arrived I felt like I knew exactly what to do with her hair.

We started by curling her hair with several different sizes of curling irons. Then I made a deep part on the right side of her head and began pulling large curls back. This created a lot of texture along the sides. I weaved the curls around each other to make a good base at the back of her head for the fingertip length veil that she will wear for the ceremony. To finish her style, she has picked out a very sparkly fascinator.

Carol wanted to use neutral tones for her makeup. I love the way the golds and browns highlighted her eyes. She has a great skin tone and the pinkish lip color pulls together the whole look nicely.
I am already looking forward to November when I get to travel to Oglebay to see Carol and her friends!

Annie’s Big Day!

Earlier this month I got the pleasure of being the stylist for Annie’s big day in Eastern W.V. I was first contacted by the MOH Liz. She was helping the bride-to-be find a stylist since both ladies would be coming in from out-of-town Since Annie lives in CA, I knew that I wouldn’t get to meet with her till the week of the wedding itself.

On the Wednesday before their nuptials, I drove the 2 hours down to meet Annie and her mom for the first time. We spent several hours in the afternoon practicing both hair and makeup. Finally deciding on wearing her hair all up and to accent to updo with a sparkly floral clip that her Grandmother choose for her. We also practiced her Mom Adele’s makeup before I headed back to Pittsburgh.

Then on Saturday June 9, I traveled to help Liz, Adele and Annie get ready before the ceremony. When styling for the MOB, she was concerned that her hair would be too puffy. So I used a flat-iron to create slight volume at the crown and pulled her bangs into place. He makeup was really fun. I used browns, golds and bronzes to highlight her eyes.

Next up was Liz.  She decided to wear her hair up and to the right side.We used a very deep side part to swoop the front of her hair back. Then I wove all of the curls and twists to create a fun but classic look.

As for her makeup, we wanted to keep it pretty simple but again have a classic twist to it. So I used a smokey eye liner and subtle brown shade to make a pretty cat-eye. The look was finished with a nude but glossy lip.

Finally it was time for the bride. As I mentioned she wanted to wear her hair all up. I curled all of her hair and piled it straight in the back. Texture throughout the whole updo was important to her. All of the hair was pulled from the sides and the front were twisted and pinned to create that look.

For her makeup up she wanted a more dramatic look. So with lots of liner, I made the eyes very smokey and finished with a rosy lip color.

I had a blast with these ladies and I am so happy that I got to meet and spend time with them. Thanks again to Annie for choosing me to be a small part of such a big day!
