Yesterday, I got the pleasure of being a part of Jessica’s wedding day. I knew it was going to be a fun day from the minute her mom Debbie called me and asked me to be the stylist.

On this day I got to meet several of her closest friends and style their hair as well. Here are a few photos of her bridesmaids.

As for the lovely bride. She wanted to look as much like herself as possible. So after loosely curling her long hair, I pinned a few pieces back to create more volume at the crown. She wanted her makeup to be pretty natural as well.

Overall, it was a great day. I am very happy that I got to be a small part of such a special day for Jessica. Thank you again for choosing me!

In the beginning on April I was contacted by Alexis as she was searching for a stylist for her September wedding. I was pretty excited to meet with her early this week to try out the style that she had in mind.

Alexis had shared with me some photos of her beautiful wedding dress and told me a few of the ideas that she had for her hair. When we finally met we discussed wearing her hair pulled low on the right side with a curly bun to hold the large flower and cage veil.

For her makeup she wanted a dramatic look but wanted to keep with neutral tones.

I am very happy to be the stylist for Alexis’ big day and I look forward to seeing her again in a few weeks!

Carol: Trial

This weekend I got to meet up with bride-to-be Carol for a trial run of her hair and makeup. Even though her wedding is not until the beginning of November, she contacted me back around the first of May. Since the wedding is taking place a few hours from her home, and each of her bridal party members are traveling great distances, Carol was looking for an on-location stylist to keep things simple for her traveling friends.

One of the things I have loved about getting to know Carol and her bridal party so far is that along with our email correspondence, she invited me to follow her on Pinterest. With this I have been able to see all of the ideas that she has liked when it come to not only hair and makeup but bridesmaid dresses and styles that her bridesmaids love too! So when she arrived I felt like I knew exactly what to do with her hair.

We started by curling her hair with several different sizes of curling irons. Then I made a deep part on the right side of her head and began pulling large curls back. This created a lot of texture along the sides. I weaved the curls around each other to make a good base at the back of her head for the fingertip length veil that she will wear for the ceremony. To finish her style, she has picked out a very sparkly fascinator.

Carol wanted to use neutral tones for her makeup. I love the way the golds and browns highlighted her eyes. She has a great skin tone and the pinkish lip color pulls together the whole look nicely.
I am already looking forward to November when I get to travel to Oglebay to see Carol and her friends!

Kiki’s Big Day!

This past weekend I got pleasure of hanging out with Kiki as she prepared to walk down the aisle on her wedding day. She contacted me at the very beginning of 2012 when she was looking for a stylist. When we finally got to meet in June, I knew this day was going to be pretty fun.

With seven ladies in her bridal party we got started bright and early. Nikki came with me for this one to help keep on track. She started by styling Bridesmaid Katie. Wanting to keep most of her hair pulled back off of her face, the back was pinned up in a ponytail like updo with lots of curls.

I started the morning by styling for sister of the groom Lisa. I started by twisting a braid from the left side bringing her hair all over to sit directly behind her right ear. At first she wanted to leave her long hair in curls falling down in her shoulder, but as the morning ran on she changed her mind. Nikki pinned all the hair up in a messy bun while I was styling the bride.

Next for me was bridesmaid Steph. She explained that she wanted a messy side updo with lots of texture.

Meanwhile, Nikki was busy styling Maid of honor Jessica. She wanted lots of pin curls and texture pinned all up and slightly off centered  to the left.

Nikki also styled for bridal party member Jayme who also wanted her hair all up. I love the way the curls are weaved and pinned together!

Bridesmaid Marni was also styled by Nikki. She wanted to wear her simply half-up while the rest was down in loose curls.

I got to be the one to style Flower Girl diva Brooke. She was well prepared with a photo and described to me that she wanted two braids and a side pony tail with lots of curls.

Finally I got to style the bride-to-be Kiki. Back during the trial run in June we practiced her hair pulled half-up with lots of curls falling down on her shoulders. So that’s what I recreated again for the wedding day. She wanted a lot of volume in the back with all of her hair pulled away from her face. Finishing her hair, I added a sparkling headband. For her makeup, she wanted a natural look with dark brown colors.

It was really fun to hang out with such a great group of friends. Most of these ladies traveled in from all over the country to be here for Kiki. I’m glad to have been a small part of this day as well. Thank you again for choosing me to be the stylist!

Kiki: Trial “Princess-y Bride”

I always love a bride who is quick to plan ahead of time, so when I was contacted by Kiki in January about her July wedding I knew that we would get along well. This month she was in town visiting and planning from Jacksonville, FL when we got together for a trial run of her big day hair and makeup.

Throughout our correspondence, Kiki had been telling me about how she envisioned wearing her hair half up, with big romantic curls falling down on her shoulders. She would also be wearing a sparkling head band to pull together the “princess-y” look.

On a daily basis, Kiki does not normally wear a lot of makeup. So for the trial run she wanted to try some natural browns and bronze colors to define her eyes.

I am looking forward to the wedding day in mid July when I will get to meet the rest of her large bridal party. July will be here in no time!

Jen: Engagement Photo Styling

Posted in e-photos, engagement, natural makeup, Pittsburgh Hair stylist, Styling with tags , , , , , , on April 30, 2012 by Elisha Evans Styling

On Sunday I traveled to Penn Hills to meet 2013 Bride-to-be Jen as she and her future husband got ready to enjoy the sunshine while having their engagement photos taken.

When she contacted me over email a few weeks ago Jen told me that she wanted to have her hair and makeup styled for this photo shoot but she didn’t want it to look like she had put too much effort behind it. Almost like she had done it herself. She referenced Reese Witherspoon’s general style and carefree look. So I curled all of her chin length her and then pulled all of the curl out o give it a bit of a wind-blown/disheveled feel. We then pull some strands across the top and from the front and twisted it into a cute little knot.

For her makeup I applied brown shadows that highlighted her bright blue eyes. Since we wanted to keep it simple and natural we used only a little bit of black liner that made her eyes really stand out. I think the overall look was very natural and pretty.

It was awesome meeting and hanging out with Jen for the afternoon. I am really looking forward to seeing the photos from yesterday. Even more so I am looking forward to her June 2013 wedding when we get to hang out again! Thanks for letting me be your stylist for the day!
