Yesterday was my friend Lynetta’s wedding day. She and I have known each other since 3rd grade. Like many people do, we lost touch for several years but thanks to the wonders of social media, we reconnected about 5 years ago. When she told me that she and Jeremy had gotten engaged I was thrilled! I was honored when she asked me to be involved in her special day by styling her hair and makeup.

Since the wedding was to take place in Columbus, OH and she had recently moved to Boston, MA, there was no time for us to get together for a trial run of her hair. So through the past year we have talked, mostly through emails and Facebook, discussing exactly what she did and did not want for her wedding day style.
When the big day finally arrived, she decided that she wanted subtle Victory Rolls to bring an element of vintage to the day. I curled the back of her hair for lots of volume and the swooped her bangs to one side.

To finish the look, she chose to wear a cage veil.

Lynetta is a wonderful person and I am lucky to call her my friend. I am very thankful to have been there to celebrate with her on the day that she married such a great guy. I wish for them all the love and fun in the world! Thanks again Netta, for letting me be part of your big day.  ❤

Carol: Trial

This weekend I got to meet up with bride-to-be Carol for a trial run of her hair and makeup. Even though her wedding is not until the beginning of November, she contacted me back around the first of May. Since the wedding is taking place a few hours from her home, and each of her bridal party members are traveling great distances, Carol was looking for an on-location stylist to keep things simple for her traveling friends.

One of the things I have loved about getting to know Carol and her bridal party so far is that along with our email correspondence, she invited me to follow her on Pinterest. With this I have been able to see all of the ideas that she has liked when it come to not only hair and makeup but bridesmaid dresses and styles that her bridesmaids love too! So when she arrived I felt like I knew exactly what to do with her hair.

We started by curling her hair with several different sizes of curling irons. Then I made a deep part on the right side of her head and began pulling large curls back. This created a lot of texture along the sides. I weaved the curls around each other to make a good base at the back of her head for the fingertip length veil that she will wear for the ceremony. To finish her style, she has picked out a very sparkly fascinator.

Carol wanted to use neutral tones for her makeup. I love the way the golds and browns highlighted her eyes. She has a great skin tone and the pinkish lip color pulls together the whole look nicely.
I am already looking forward to November when I get to travel to Oglebay to see Carol and her friends!
