The last wedding that I got to be a part of in the month of September was Courtney’s! I met her through mutual friends so when she asked me to style her hair and makeup, I knew this would be a fun day. I wasn’t wrong either, in the hotel room we watched college football and the bride’s itinerary included Fantasy Football updates. To say that she was laid back would be correct but I would say she was more comfortable in the knowledge that she was getting married and everything else would just fall in line.

When we got together in August for a trial run of a few styles, she was undecided as to whether she would wear her hair mostly down in curls, pulling up only a few strands from the front or in a side ponytail.

On the morning of the wedding I traveled to the South Hills to style her hair along with some of her closest friends and family. Courtney had decided to go with the side pony tail type of style.

One of he other ladies that I got the pleasure of styling was Katie. She had really long and thick hair. She wanted to wear the majority of it down and to have the sides pulled back in two braids.

One of Courtney’s cousin’s Jamie was also there that morning. She too wanted to have most of her hair down have some of it pulled up on top to create a fun little pouf of hair right on top.

One of her long time friend Alyssa was next. She had shorter hair but we still gave the appearance of fuller hair by making a fun updo

Finally was another friend, Erica. She also wears her hair on the shorter side. I tucked her hair into a smooth updo as well.

This wedding day was a lot of fun for me. Seeing a bride completely relaxed and enjoying time with friends and family is exactly why I love what I do. Congratulations to Courtney and once again, thank you for letting me be a little part of the big day!

Stef: Trial

Back in the beginning of the year, Stef contacted me while planning for her November wedding. We have been in touch via email ever since but last week we met in person for a trial run of her wedding day hair and makeup.

She decided at the beginning of her engagement that she did not want to go through the hassle of growing her hair long. So we discussed a couple of ideas on how to style the short length that she prefers.

I used a small iron to curl all of her hair. Then with a deep part in the front, I pulled some of the curls away from her face. In the back, I tucked all of the curls in a faux updo. Finally, she wants to wear a sparkling fascinator.

I am excited about the finished style and am looking forward to seeing Stef again in a few short weeks!

Yesterday was my friend Lynetta’s wedding day. She and I have known each other since 3rd grade. Like many people do, we lost touch for several years but thanks to the wonders of social media, we reconnected about 5 years ago. When she told me that she and Jeremy had gotten engaged I was thrilled! I was honored when she asked me to be involved in her special day by styling her hair and makeup.

Since the wedding was to take place in Columbus, OH and she had recently moved to Boston, MA, there was no time for us to get together for a trial run of her hair. So through the past year we have talked, mostly through emails and Facebook, discussing exactly what she did and did not want for her wedding day style.
When the big day finally arrived, she decided that she wanted subtle Victory Rolls to bring an element of vintage to the day. I curled the back of her hair for lots of volume and the swooped her bangs to one side.

To finish the look, she chose to wear a cage veil.

Lynetta is a wonderful person and I am lucky to call her my friend. I am very thankful to have been there to celebrate with her on the day that she married such a great guy. I wish for them all the love and fun in the world! Thanks again Netta, for letting me be part of your big day.ย  โค

Lindsey’s Big Day

Last Saturday was Lindsey’s wedding day! I traveled north to Butler, PA to style her hair and makeup.

She first called me back during the summer and told me that she would be traveling to PA from up state NY. We met for a trial run of her hair in early August and tried several hair styles. She was uncertain whether or not she wanted to wear her hair all up, or pulled to one side in a ponytail. So we tried it all.

When the big day arrived she chose to have her hair all up in a heavily textured updo, with lots of curls set low at the back of her head.

Lindsey was a fun bride to work with. She came to me with a few different ideas and we had a lot of fun trying to decide exactly what she would wear. Congratulations and thanks again for letting me be a part of the big day!

Last week I got to be a part of a very intimate wedding. Meredith and her fiance made the choice to share their big day with only their closest family members. I was lucky enough to be there as her hair and makeup stylist.

When she contacted me earlier this year and when we met for a trial run of her hair, Meredith was certain that she wanted to wear most of her hair down in curls. On her wedding day we pulled a few strands back and accented her shiny hair with sparkly pins.

Meredith is an incredibly sweet person. Once again, congratulations and thank you for letting me be a small part of your big day!

Anna’s Big Day

On Sunday September 2, 2012 Anna got married and I was there to be her stylist! Surrounding her that day were many of her best friends as she got ready to walk down the aisle.

When she and I met for a trial run of her wedding day style back in early May, we only tried one particular look. Anna was certain that she wanted to wear her hair half pulled up, leaving the rest of her very long, dark hair falling down in curls. On the day of her wedding, we recreated that same style with a lot of volume.

With a very deep part in the front, pushing her bangs to one side, we finished the look with a sparking headband.

Anna was a great bride to work with. Lots of fun to be around and knew what she wanted from the minute we first spoke. I’m happy to have been a part of her wedding day!
