Today I got to spend the day with beautiful bride Priya.

Last she and I met was back in May during the trial run of her hair and makeup. We discussed two different hair styles. One to be worn for the first half of the day while wearing her Sari and another when she changed into an American style wedding gown.

The first style for today was for her traditional Hindu ceremony and she would need a center part for her Tikka. Then I created a bun in the center back. At the base of her hair I weaved a mass of curls. To finish the look I used two different ropes of flowers and wrapped them through the hair.

I also got the pleasure of styling for couple of Priya’s relatives today also. Sangeetha, her cousin from Delaware, wanted to leave her hair down in long wavy curls. I pulled one side back slightly and made a little twist.

Next was another cousin, Rupa. She decided to wear all of her long thick hair up and to the side. I also braided one side of her hair over to the updo.

The sister of the groom Ariel, was also to be styled today. She wears her her in a shorter bob-like style. So I curled all of the hair with a large iron and then wrapped the curls around each other. Pinning them togetherat the back of her head to make at up do.

For the reception, Priya changed into her American style dress. I changed her hair into a side parted updo. Pulled all of her hair to the right, twisting and weaving it creating a textured look. Finishing the style with a large ivory flower.

It was a really beautiful, busy day and I am glad to have been a part of it. Congratulations to Jeremy and Priya! thank you again for letting me be a small part of your big day!

Kari’s Big Day!

Near the end of February, I was contacted by Kari as she was looking for a hair stylist. I was happy to finally meet her at the beginning of this month for a trial run of her hair. Since I had been talking with her over email for 6 months, I knew that we were going to get along really well. What I love about Kari is that she really knows her personal style well. She chose not to grow her hair out for some specific updo but to keep her daily “bob” and spice that up with curls and tons of texture for her big day. To keep with the vintage style of her wedding gown, she choose to wear a fascinator with a little sparkle and lots of ivory feather on the side.

I also got to style friend Nicole’s hair. She had no idea what she wanted to do with her hair for that day, so she told me to do whatever I wanted to do. This, was very exciting! I decided to keep her hair very smooth with a updo.

Next was Matilyn. She told me about her blue dress, shoes and the blue head band with “diamonds” that she was going to wear. This 8-year-old also knew exactly what she wanted for the day. She wanted a high-placed updo with lots of curls and a deep part in the front.

Finally to end the day was friend of the bride Sarah. She also had a plan for her hair. She wanted a very high, half up style reminiscent of the 60’s era. Lots of volume on top leaving the back down with a slight flip at the ends.

I had a really great time with Kari and her friends and family before her ceremony began. Thanks again for choosing me to be a small part of you big day!

I have been talking with Shelley for over a year now about her upcoming September wedding. We finally got to meet earlier this week for a trial run of her wedding day hair and makeup.

As I was curling her short hair, she was telling me about the custom veil that she had ordered, and plans to wear throughout the entire day. To keep the hair out of her face I pulled strands from the sides. Then teased some at the crown to make a strong base for the pearl covered veil. Finally finished the look with her tiara.

Shelley was very pleased with the way the look turned out, and I look forward to meeting with her again on her big day!

Courtney: Trial

I met Courtney through a good friend of mine a couple of years ago. She is a fun person so when I heard that she had recently gotten engaged I was really happy for her. Then back in April she contacted me over Facebook and let me know that she would love to have me as her stylist for the wedding day. So I am super pumped!

We got together last week to try out a couple different styles. First she explained to me that the ceremony was going to be intimate with only a few family members and friend then after dinner they would be heading out for a non-traditional kind of party. They would be going out for Karaoke! Courtney was also trading in conventional ideas of a wedding gown for her own style so wanted her hair and to adjust for that too.

We got started by trying a half up style with some fullness at the crown, and curls falling down at her shoulders.

After that she wanted to try a softer more relaxed side ponytail.

Courtney is a fun and relaxed bride, and I am lucky to be a part of this wedding. I am looking forward to her September wedding!

Michelle’s Big Day!

I am happy to finally share with you some photos from a wedding that I got to be a part of in July. Michelle had contacted me in March. Being an out-of-town bride we met for the first time in April to go through a trial of her hair and makeup. At that time we tried two different hair styles, one half up and the other all up. She had said that she needed to think it over to decide which way she would go on the big day.

When the day finally arrived on July 22, Michelle had decided to go with the updo. So I began to curl all of her hair and pin it in a high updo. She also had a pretty sparkly headband to wear. She wanted her makeup to be quite dramatic, with greys and silver colors and lots of eye liner.

I really had a great time hanging out with Michelle and her bridal party as they got ready for her ceremony. They are one group of girls I will not soon forget. Thanks again for letting me be a small part of the big day!
Oh by the way! Here are some snap shots that one of the Bridesmaids (Erica) was kind enough to share with me. Enjoy!

This week I also got to meet with Bride-To-Be Michelle. She and I have been discussing her wedding day since the second of January. It was fun to learn that she and I are both from St. Louis!

We discussed styling a low curly bun with romantic texture throughout the top and sides. She has a beautiful flower with lace detail to pin in at the side for an accent.

I am pumped to see Michelle again in just four short weeks!

In the beginning on April I was contacted by Alexis as she was searching for a stylist for her September wedding. I was pretty excited to meet with her early this week to try out the style that she had in mind.

Alexis had shared with me some photos of her beautiful wedding dress and told me a few of the ideas that she had for her hair. When we finally met we discussed wearing her hair pulled low on the right side with a curly bun to hold the large flower and cage veil.

For her makeup she wanted a dramatic look but wanted to keep with neutral tones.

I am very happy to be the stylist for Alexis’ big day and I look forward to seeing her again in a few weeks!
