Big Day For Nicole!

When I headed out towards Nicole’s home the temperature could not have been more comfortable. It was a great start to a day full of hair. Not too warm, little humidity and no rain makes for happy hair.

It was an early start at about 7:00am and the lovely bride came first. At our trial we had discussed wearing her hair half up and half down, however a game time decision led Nicole to want to try her hair all down. As the beautiful blonde curls began to fill out I could see that this was going to be a gorgeous look for the wedding. Wanting to keep some of it off the face we pulled a few strategic strands back and wove them in and out of some of the already formed curls hanging loose. The effect gave a glamorous fullness that could easily handle a veil.

We moved on from there to a couple of her Bridesmaids. Erin sat down in the chair and was looking for a side swept up do with lots of curls. She has awesome, thick hair that was really fun to play with and cooperated easily. The curls piled up more full on top and to the right, allowing some loose curls to trail over her shoulder. An important piece that Erin really wanted was for her bangs to be up and out-of-the-way. They were pinned back to ensure a whole day of dancing!

The next Bridesmaid to have a seat was Melissa. She has long brown hair. Melissa was open for just about anything, requesting only that it be up and secure. We took each strand up and built it into an up style that sat right at the back of her head. Not too high but not too low to the neck. Melissa, being a mommy did not need to have hair fall down around her face nor on her shoulders. I really love the way the back turned out.

Next was a Junior Bridesmaid with the kind of hair that we all miss from when we were in 7th grade, full, shiny and healthy. She had been inspired by one of the other Bridesmaids and wanted a style swept to the side. We began curling and building the style towards the left, she too did not want to have any bangs in her face. The unique part of this style was the braid that we decided to use to jazz up the front and the twists pulling again to the left to finish the look.

It was a great morning with some fun ladies and some really pretty hair. I can’t wait to see the photos from the rest of Nicole’s big day! Thanks again to Nicole, her friends and her family for allowing me to be apart of special day. I am very lucky to get to meet so many great people, and of course do some fun hair!

I am super excited to announce that I will be styling for Stephanie’s wedding in September!

I have been introduced to Stephanie through a great friend of mine, Jessica (who is also a member of the bridal party.) I am looking forward to meeting with Stephanie in person for a trial run of her wedding style in July. Until then we will be in touch discussing the details of her wedding and her ideal look for the big day!

Congrats again to Stephanie, September will be here before we know it!

Elicia: Trial

I am super excited to share this post with you about Elicia and I getting to play with some hair for the trial run for her November wedding here in Pittsburgh.

Elicia currently lives in South Caroline and was in town to continue with wedding plans and to try a few looks for the big day. A very special part of Elicia’s wedding is the dress she has chosen to wear for her ceremony. It is a vintage dress from the 1950’s that was originally worn by her grandmother and through the years has been passed down for her to wear.

The 50’s feel of this beautiful dress has inspired Elicia to seek a retro look for her hair.

The feel has been achieved by adding some volume to the crown of the head with some what of a bouffant in mind. Letting the majority of the hair fall down and in an outward flip. This will be the look she wears for the ceremony alone. The band of hair that is pulled tight around her face is not going to move and therefore will not be bothersome. Elicia and I discussed and decided on the day of the wedding that the bouffant will be even fuller which will make a great place for a classic veil to be placed and pull the whole ceremony look together.

For the reception Elicia wanted a look ready for a party! She will be changing out of her grandmother’s gown into a slightly less formal, yet still stunning gown ready to celebrate for the rest of the night. So she needed a second look to keep with the party theme.

Elicia is planning on removing her veil so we needed a fun look but still functional. We took the back of the hair up and out of the way and created a controlled yet chaotic look with curls weaving in and out of each other so she can dance the night away.

I am really looking forward to this fun wedding and I am glad to get to be a part of the fun hair choices that she has made that have been inspired by so many different things. Congrats once again!

Congratulations Anna!

I am so excited to announce that I will be traveling to Virginia for the wedding of Anna and Nick in November!

Anna has to be one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She and her fiance have decided to get married in her home town in Virginia to be around a lot of family. This is going to be a beautiful wedding and I am so happy to be a part of it.

Congrats once again!

Ashley: Trial

I got an email from Ashley back in the very beginning of 2011. A mutual friend and great photographer Kristen (kristenwynnphotography.com) suggested that she give me a call to see if I were free for her July 2011 wedding here in Pittsburgh.

Ashley and I have been in touch for months now talking about everything from her inspiration pics to veils and barrettes. When it came time for us to meet in person Ashley brought a bridesmaid friend with her for the fun. These two ladies were a blast to hang out with for a couple of hours while we tried out a few styles.

Ashley had decided that she wanted her hair down with some natural looking curls. Also we added some height at the crown of the head to bring a little glamour to the hair. Ashley brought with her several hair barrettes and a head band to try. We decided to try a big white flower and a fantastic blue flower. Both looked really great, now she just has to decide on the day of which direction to go!

I am really looking forward to seeing all of the color in Ashley’s upcoming July wedding. From her blue shoes, to the bridesmaid’s orange shoes, this wedding is going to be a blast. I am so happy to be a part of it and can’t wait to meet the rest of her fun friends!

Nicole: Trial

I received an email from Nicole in 2010! She had started planning her big day and had heard of my name on Theknot.com.  As she has been going on with wedding planning we have been staying in touch, looking forward to meeting in person and having some fun trying out some of her inspiration styles.

When the day arrived that Nicole came over she brought her mother with her for advice and we got started! Lots and lots of beautiful curls cascading down her back with the front and some of the top pulled back in an effortless style has been the goal.

By wearing her hair half up and half down she gets to show off the great curl she wanted and the bright June sun will bounce beautifully off of that blonde! Setting the hair up on the back of her head will make a perfect resting place for her gorgeous veil on the day of the wedding!  Plus will keep hair out of her face as she dances the night away.

I’m so excited for the upcoming wedding and can’t wait to meet the rest of the bridal party!
